3 ways to freshen dated and bland panelling

The frustrating thing about panels is that they're built into the walls, it may seem like there's not much you can do to bring something that was most likely built during Queen Victoria's rein right up to the 21stcentury. But don't cry, we've got 5 different ways to light up your wall space without having to break the bank on redoing the whole thing!

  1. There's no need to tear down a lovely wall feature just because it's got a bit dirty over the years, invest in some wood cleaning oil to rub in and wipe layers of muck off. Don't forget to dust the panels every couple of months to keep them looking their best.
  2. If your panels are looking a bit down in the dumps, you can fix them right up with a lovely lick of paint or wood dye, depending on your type of panels and their position.
  3. Add extras or frills in between the panels or around them to bring them up to speed with new trends and give them a special feel. There's something of a calm energy about something you know is so old and important to the way the house was built and made. A perfect way to jazz the panelling up is to simply love and embrace them and use panels to frame other work such as art. This could be a chance for your creativity to flow and leave your mark on the walls for years to come.
