3 Ways To Save A Cramped Kitchen

Some say that the worst problem a house can have is a cramped kitchen, we say that the worst problem a house can have is someone not willing to make things better. Challenge accepted, here are 3 brilliant ways to make a small kitchen seem more manageable.

  1. Lighten it up
A big mistake small kitchen owners tend to make is using dark colours, or a lot of wood. These rooms are often made even worse because they were decorated at a time when dark kitchens were everywhere. Thankfully though, modern style is a lot brighter and we love open looking kitchens. Remove any wall panelling and use white or bright colours as often as possible. If dark wooden cabinets and cupboards are keeping you awake at night, paint them over with light calming colours, but avoid doubling down on white as this can have the opposite effect.
  2. Open it up
Furniture at the end of the aisle? No! We understand how it happens, you move into a new space, how do you add that new fridge in without redoing the entire kitchen? It’s way easier to just stick it on the end and hope for the best. But the problem is that makes a small kitchen feel even smaller. Do yourself a favour and either extend the length of your cabinets or rejiggle space around so that it’s chopping or cooking space in that spot instead of the oven or fridge.
  3. Give it a modern touch
The whole ‘1800s but what if it’s the 1970s’ style just doesn’t cut it any more. Throw away the rugs, cheap novelty add-ons and anything else that not only makes space seem smaller but let’s be honest, doesn’t exactly look chic anyway!
