Adding an exotic touch to your home

One of the biggest sweeping crazes right now is stealing a bit of genius from our other, warmer and more adventurous neighbours. There’s just something about exotic escapes with cosy textures and deep autumn colours such as browns, reds and blacks that gives any room a colourful and warm flair. We’re particularly loving ethnic patterns, prints and anything showing off animals is a big plus. Especially those different and fun creatures from South America and Africa. Tribal masks at the ready! Time to spear some exotic design ideas!

Rooms don’t have to have bold cultural prints to call forth those offshore feels; using rich fabric and colours naturally adds winter warmth to any room. Classic African colours like reds, oranges and sandy browns instantly add happiness and life to a space.  If you’re not feeling a complete colour overhaul, maybe animal leather, hides or skins are more your style, either as wall frills or quick fixes for the floor. These exotic styles are all about celebrating colour and you can’t get enough vibrant colour in a style like this! If you’re really looking for a fast and easy way to add a little bit of extra safari sun, brighten up your space by adding Cacti, Moroccan patterned wallpaper, bare wood, snakeskins or traditional woven rugs!

Making use of colour and getting insight from the little critters is great, and it deffo puts any room on a one-way ticket to design success this season. But getting the cultural touch isn’t just about these things, metal and harsh bare materials are another way to invoke African vibes. We’re loving patterned metal lights and furniture- such as small bare tables and chairs, decked with lively and artistic fun cushions. Whatever you’re adding to your home, don’t forget an exotic plant or two!
