Why bother designing such a treasure, as is your living room, if you can barely see it? Artificial lighting is one of the most important features and things to consider in a room, but it's often forgotten about. Probably because whoever's decorating is doing it during the day! Still, it's important to plan out these things-however much of a pain it may be! We're here to tell you, it doesn't have to be!
Follow some simple rules for which types of lights to use and where to place them to ensure you'll no longer have to spend hours lugging lamps around only to be unable to read your book! Firstly, don't skimp on lighting. In general. It's better to have more areas covered by lamps than it is to have spots of darkness, and as lighting from lamps is a lot less bright and glaring than lights in the ceilings...There's more room for being a bit careful! Usually, if there's a table there's no question- stick a lamp on or near it! Seating or sofa? Lamp. Eerily dark corner? Think about either a light placed near the seating or a table, aimed slightly towards that area, or place the lamp in the corner itself facing out!
As for the type and style of lamp, anything near living room seating has to be facing down, dim or very shaded. Otherwise, if you want to be a tad more daring you can experiment with different lamp shades like glass-made ones or fancy individual ones. Wall lights are a brill way to add love and spirit in the dark but, do be a bit careful you don't burn anyone's eyes out!
